A brief description is shown below, but for a full report visit the CORGI web site by clicking on the CORGI logo above

  • CORGI is the Council for registered Gas Installers. It is an independent body appointed by the Health and Safety Executive to register gas installer businesses and maintain safety standards throughout the industry.
It's the National Watchdog For Gas Safety.
  • CORGI maintains a  listing of all Registered Gas Installers in the UK.
  • CORGI’s role is to protect the public from unsafe gas installations and to ensure gas work is carried out safely and competently by registered gas installers.

  • All Gas Installers must successfully pass an assessment of competence by a CORGI Inspector before an application is approved. Once registered, an Installer is required to undergo regular inspections.
  • All businesses, who undertake any work in relation to a gas fitting, must, by law, be REGISTERED WITH CORGI.

  • A requirement of CORGI registration is all gas fitting operatives must have been assessed, tested and hold valid NACS certificates (Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme) of competence in all areas of gas work carried out.
  • Certificates are valid for 5 years, after which re-assessment and re-certification is necessary.
  • Gas Safety Helpline - Technical experts are available who can advise CORGI registered installers about standards, regulations and answer technical gas safety queries.
  • Installers on the Register can draw on expert technical advice from CORGI's technical team.
  • A consumer information service - Consumers can contact CORGI to find their local registered gas installer.
