| What is
an Energy Efficiency Professional ? |
Energy Efficiency is a marketing
initiative for energy efficient products, measures and services. It is
backed by the Energy Saving Trust, an independent, Government funded body,
working in partnership with industry.
An Energy Efficiency Professional:
- is a member of a trade or
professional membership body which is a partner in the Energy Efficiency
initiative and which provides a consumer complaints procedure
- has been vetted by their organisation
and has to abide by its code of professional practice
- is covered by public liability
insurance (HMS : £2M)
- has signed up to the Energy
Efficiency Code of Practice
The
Energy Saving Trust:
| Origin |
The
Energy Saving Trust : was established as part of the Government's
action plan in response to the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro,
which addressed world-wide concerns on environmental issues such
as climate change and global warming. It is the UK's leading organisation
working to deliver energy efficiency for domestic consumers. |

Vision |
The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit distributing company set
up by the Government and major energy companies. The Trust's vision
is. "Working through partnerships towards the sustainable and
efficient use of energy."
The Trust's current priorities
are:
- Above all, stimulating
energy efficiency in U.K. households to achieve social, environmental
and economic benefits;
- Creating a market for
clean fuel vehicles to deliver local and global environmental
benefits;
- Making a difference
through energy efficiency programmes targeted at schools and business
lighting, and
- Sign-posting consumers
towards credible renewable energy supplies.
